Police dispatch services for the City
of Los Alamitos are provided by the West Cities Police Communications
Center, also known as West-Comm. West-Comm is a consolidated police
dispatch center, formed by a Joint Powers Authority between the cities
of Cypress, Los Alamitos and Seal Beach. Located at the Seal Beach
Police Department, West-Comm serves a combined population of
approximately 100,000 and answers more that 19,000 emergency 9-1-1 calls
each year. The success of West-Comm is evident in improved communication
services, enhanced mutual-aid field effectiveness and an improved
employees’ work environment.
Our Dispatchers
Dispatchers serve as the primary
link between the public and the Police Officers in the field. They
receive emergency telephone calls and assist citizens with requests for
service and general inquiries. Each call is evaluated and the
appropriate Public Safety personnel are dispatched to handle the
situation. Dispatchers are routinely required to make independent
decisions with after-the–fact supervisory review. Responsibilities
also include using the Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management
Systems, maintaining records, and performing typing assignments, which
include data entry.
West-Comm hires Police Dispatchers
who are enthusiastic, flexible and dedicated with a proven background in
job performance.
