Los Alamitos Reserve Police Officers
perform the same duties and possess the same powers of arrest as regular
Police Officers, while on duty. In addition to routine patrol, Reserve
Officers are assigned to special events for traffic enforcement, crowd
control, bike patrol and other special assignments. This program is
designed for individuals from a variety of professions who want to serve
the community while remaining in their current profession.
Los Alamitos Reserve Police
Officers are considered part-time employees and earn from $9.00 to
$11.00 per hour. They are required to meet the same hiring, background,
medical and psychological standards as regular officers. All police
equipment and uniforms are provided for Reserve Officers by the
department.
The Los Alamitos Police Department
also has a special position designated as a Reserve Investigator. This
part-time, 20 hour per week, position is assigned to the Detective
Bureau and pays from $12.00 to $14.00 per hour. The Reserve Investigator
manages a caseload consisting of a wide variety of investigations.
Recruitment for qualified,
dedicated Reserve Officers is on-going. To qualify, you must be a
citizen of the United States, be a high school graduate or have a GED,
be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid California Driver’s
License, and must not have any felony convictions. Applicants must have
completed the POST Basic Academy.
