Los Alamitos Police Arrest 78 Year-old Man for Attempted Murder

On June 28, 2005 at 8:54 a.m., Los Alamitos Police officers responded to a report of a person down at the 3500 block of Thor Avenue. When officers and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived, they were met by witnesses who told them the 79 year-old wheel chair bound victim had been stabbed by her husband multiple times in the face and neck.

The victim, who was transported to Los Alamitos Medical Center, sustained puncture wounds to the back of her head and face. She also suffered lacerations to her right ear and cheek. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victim were not life threatening and it is expected she will be released from the hospital later today.

The suspect, who has been identified as Robert Jay Frantz, 78, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He will be booked on the charges of Attempted Homicide and Mayhem. Frantz’ age and physical condition required that he be taken to the Western Medical Center of Anaheim hospital booking facility for observation prior to being transferred to Orange County Jail.
