The Los Alamitos Police Department,
in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America, sponsors a Law
Enforcement Explorer Program. This program provides an opportunity for
youth to learn about the various careers available in the Law
Enforcement field as well as the value of community service. Explorer
Scouts learn about radio communication, traffic control techniques, and
a variety of other law enforcement concepts and procedures. They assist
the Police Department in various duties including but not limited to
traffic and crowd control at special events such as the Annual 10K Run
and the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at the Armed Forces Reserve
Center. They also have the opportunity to participate in ride-alongs and
other field experiences.
Regular meetings of the Explorer Post are held every Wednesday at 6:00
PM at the Los Alamitos Police Department. Special meetings and events
are held at different times and locations so it is best to call ahead to
confirm time and location of Post activities.
